Howe Sound Sounders graduating players Cam Dare (left) and Adam Stangowitz (right) take a breather on the sidelines during the Senior Bowl in Langley on Saturday (March 22). The duo took part in a five day camp that featured the best Grade 12 football talent in the province.

A trio of Squamish residents got up close and personal with both the B.C. Lions and some of the best young football players in the province at the 2014 Senior Bowl.

The five-day camp saw the best graduating players in the province gather in Surrey, take part in several practices, learn about life on and off the field and battle against each other at the bowl game in Langley on Saturday (March 22).

Howe Sound Sounders players Cam Dare and Adam Stangowitz made the trip, along with former Sounder and current Notre Dame Jugglers lineman James Harney.

The camp kicked off on March 18 and one of the highlights of the week was on Thursday (March 20) when B.C. Lions players Travis Lulay, Dean Valli, Korey Williams and Adam Bighill guest coached the practice. Lions GM Wally Buono was also present at the camp and he opened it with an address to the entire camp.

Unlike previous years, when the teams were split into East and West, team selection was changed to a draft. Stangowitz and Harney were drafted to Team Friesen, while Dare was selected by Team Kelly.

Saturday’s game saw Team Friesen defeat Team Kelly 24-6 at McLeod Athletic Park in Langley.
