Muslims settled in Squamish and those just visiting town are invited to a gathering on Fridays at The 55 Activity Centre.

The BC Muslim Association is hosting the events to bring together fellow Muslims for a talk on faith and weekly prayers.

According to association volunteer T.M. Tyab, there are approximately 100,000 Muslims living in B.C., about 100 in Whistler and 40 to 50 in Squamish.

Many more visit the area on vacation, he said.

The events, which started July 12, and continue on July 19 at 1:30 p.m., are also designed to bring together those of the same faith who are already living here and those who are newcomers, Tyab said.

Another event will be hosted in Whistler on the same days.
