First Refresh Market of the year returns to Squamish

100 vendors bring an array of goods

Among the vintage locomotives that live on at the West Coast Railway Heritage Park, a selection of new delights are offered at Refresh Market on April 26 and 27.

“Refresh offers the opportunity to discover and shop some of B.C.'s best local talent under one roof,” Refresh Market co-founder, Shannon Lorenz, said in a press release.

For the 15th time in Squamish, 100 vendors will sell their handmade and locally designed jewelry, clothing, art and foods as well as vintage finds. Thirty-five per cent of the vendors are first-timers at Refresh, joining some local favourites. Market-goers can also enjoy Tin Type Trike portraits, tarot readings, as well as a coffee and ice cream bar.

Refresh Market launched in 2011, and has grown to three yearly two-day markets. Drawing thousands of guests each time, the event is the largest market in the Sea to Sky Corridor.

“Refresh is about making conscious decisions about how you shop and who you support,” co-founder Rachel Boguski said in a press release. "In the era of online shopping and mass consumerism, our markets offer the opportunity to shop slow, and really connect with the people who make, source and grow the items you purchase."

The first Refresh Market of the year will be April 26 and 27. The fall market will be held Sept. 13 and 14, while the winter market will be on Nov. 15 and 16.
