There's plenty to keep your Squamish kids busy over spring break!

Spring Break is always a joy for kids who are looking forward to time away from school, but somewhat of a pain for many parents in Squamish, as they scramble to find adequate extra activities, camps or daycare to help keep their children entertained during two weeks of time off.
Squamish schoolkids will be off for the March break beginning on the 18th, and returning back to the classrooms on April 2. But, don’t worry if you still haven’t found activities to entertain your children during the break, as there are still plenty of options available.

Brennan Park Recreation Centre is again offering two weeks of Spring Break camps for children aged five and a half to seven-years-old, and for those in the eight to 12 years range. The camps run from 8:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., and feature games, crafts, nature walks and more. You can also register for only the days of care you need.

The Foragers School of Nature (foragers.ca) is offering a Forest and Farm Camp from March 19 to 23 for kids five to 12 in Paradise Valley. It’s a great way for children to learn about nature through hands-on activities and plenty of outdoor fun.
Airhouse is also a great spot for active Squamish kids over the Spring Break. The popular trampoline venue offers a variety of camps for schoolkids of all ages, including skateboarding camps. Go to airhouse.ca/camp to find the one that fits your child best.

Flow Training Centre (squamishflow.ca) can keep your progeny busy over the break with a couple of scheduled martial arts camps. From March 19 to 23, kids aged five and up can join the Ninja Camp, featuring ninja/parkour lessons and challenges, arts and crafts, plus games and more. The camp runs from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. And, if your child is at least a yellow belt in taekwondo (and 8+), they can participate in the Taekwondo Camp from March 26 to 29, featuring kicking, self-defence and board-breaking techniques.
Although all the activities haven’t been confirmed, the Britannia Mine Museum has two-weeks of events and fun planned for the break. Check out britanniaminemuseum.ca/events-app/spring-break for updates as they become available.

For the techie kids, The Hotspot always offers five-day Cyber Camps, where kids can learn valuable new computer skills, experiment with multi-media, and have fun in an interactive environment and one-on-one time with youth intern instructors.
The Squamish Academy of Music is also again offering camps over the break, as well.

For the week of March 19 to 23, the academy is offering a Broadway or Bust camp from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for kids aged 6 to 12 years, as well as an Electronic Music Production camp for kids aged 9 to 12 from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. That same week SAM is also offering an Early Musicianship camp from 9 a.m until noon for kids 5 to 7 years. The following week (March 26-29), SAM has a Sing-Out camp from 9 a.m. until noon for children 6 to 9 years.”
The arts are also on the menu at the Happimess (happimess.net) Spring Break session from March 19 to 23, featuring group art projects, art projects to take home, face painting, plus an exploration of art through different materials to bring out the artist within.
While this isn’t a complete and comprehensive list of available activities and care for the Squamish School District Spring Break period, hopefully it offers those parents currently scrambling to cover the holiday some viable options from which to choose.
