"Pink salmon were spawning, kids were playing and creating beautiful pieces of art and the community as a whole was connecting to nature and each other. It was a good day."

This year, the event celebrated rivers as well as, the International Year of the Salmon with a "salmon forest, salmon river, salmon people" theme.

Thousands in B.C. celebrate BC Rivers Day on the fourth Sunday in September each year. It is said to be one of Canada’s largest river appreciation celebrations and coincides with World Rivers Day, now the world’s largest river-related celebration and one that was inspired by B.C.'s events, according to the Outdoor Recreation Council of B.C.
