An employee at a McDonald's location in Burnaby has recently been confirmed as having the coronavirus (COVID-19).

McDonald's Canada posted the new case to its online tracker Feb. 27, indicating the following affected restaurant in the region:

  • 4410 Still Creek Drive, Burnaby: Last day the restaurant employee worked was Feb. 24, 2021.

The McDonald's location is not considered a coronavirus public exposure site by Fraser Health.

A few days prior, the fast food company had reported that employees at three McDonald's locations in Metro Vancouver had recently tested positive for the virus; those cases were at outposts in New Westminster, Coquitlam, and Maple Ridge, with the infected workers having their last shifts around the third week of February.

Currently, McDonald's Canada lists a dozen restaurants in British Columbia where employees have been confirmed as having contracted COVID-19.

McDonald's Canada says it has "maintained a commitment to remain transparent in our communications, so that restaurant employees and guests are informed and can contact their local public health authorities for directions, if needed."

"For any guests who may have visited the restaurant and have questions, please take directions from your local public health experts," says McDonald's Canada.

On Monday, B.C. announced that nearly 1,500 more British Columbians had been diagnosed as being infected with COVID-19 in the period spanning the prior three days, raising the provincial total of viral infections to 80,672, since the first case was detected in January 2020.

Earlier in the day, the provincial government outlined B.C.'s vaccination plan for the next phases of the roll-out.
