Everyone hoped that COVID-19 exposures in schools would be in the rearview mirror by the end of 2021.

But after a brief period this fall with relatively few cases among school-aged children, the recent rise of the Omicron variant has resulted in additional cases in children again in December.

The good news: children five to 11 are now eligible for vaccines and kids on the North Shore have among the highest vaccination rates in the province. The bad news: Omicron is proving far more resistant to vaccines than previous variants.

The below map highlights all the potential exposure dates at schools in the area that have been reported by Vancouver Coastal Health or via school notices or via verified communications from parents or directly impacted members of school communities.

North Shore News will be updating the map regularly to help you stay informed.

The map was first published on Nov. 5. 2020 but the current map (with purple-coloured pins) lists only exposure warnings dating back to September 2021.
