A COVID-19 outbreak at Evergreen House, a long-term care facility in North Vancouver, has been declared over.

Only one staff member at the care facility tested positive for the virus, at the beginning of May.

No residents at the care facility contracted the virus.

Outbreaks in long-term care facilities are considered over after 28 days have passed with no new cases.

Evergreen House is the latest seniors home on the North Shore to get the all-clear.

The North Shore’s deadliest care home outbreak, at Lynn Valley Care Centre – which claimed the lives of 20 elderly residents – was declared over at the beginning of May, after a two-month battle with the virus.

Earlier outbreaks at North Shore care homes, including Hollyburn House and Inglewood Care Centre, have also been declared over.

Amica’s seniors home in Edgemont Village and the Berkley Care Centre in North Vancouver are still on the outbreak list.

An outbreak at Lions Gate Hospital was also deemed over May 22. Nine of the 16 patients who contracted the virus in hospital died of COVID-19.
