Vancouver Is Awesome and Glacier Media are proud to announce the launch of a new online store!

BCIsAwesome.com takes cues from of our history TV show, BC Was Awesome, honing in on the quirky characters and pieces of British Columbia’s history that have helped shape this province.

It also has one foot in the present, with takes on topical issues of the moment.

Not simply an online store, the BC Is Awesome website is a place where we’re able to share the experience of B.C., with each product page revealing the untold story of the person, place or thing featured in the design. Even if you’re not planning on buying anything you can click through and learn some trivia.

The wild camels in the Cariboo region and the “Garbage Gobblers” which lined the side of our highways starting in the 1950s are some of the 25 stories we’re telling about our heritage, on t-shirts.

Ridesharing and the “blob” colony which was recently discovered in Stanley Park are a couple of the present-day BCisms in the collection.

And it’s not just t-shirts. We’ve also got hats, like this one which is a take on the signs that you see in our campgrounds in the spring and summer, as the forests start to dry out.

There are also posters and framed artwork, throw pillows, and coffee mugs on offer. You might remember seeing this orca design on the spare tire cover of the RV that your uncle used to own.

We will be adding more products and stories every week. Check BCIsAwesome.com regularly to learn a little bit about your province, and maybe own a piece or two of it.
