A significant amount of money in a bag was found at the Coquitlam Centre Mall over the Victoria Day 2022 long weekend, and RCMP are hoping to return the cash to its rightful owner.

A Good Samartian recovered and brought a plastic bag filled with cash to Coquitlam RCMP over the Victoria Day long weekend.

Now, local Mounties are hoping its rightful owner will come forward as it appears to contain a significant amount of money.

Spokesperson Cpl. Paige Kuz confirms to the Tri-City News the money was turned over to police after it was found at Coquitlam Centre Mall on Saturday (May 21).

She says a piece of ID was also found inside the bag.

However, as of this publication (May 24), Kuz adds all efforts to find and contact the person on the card have come up short.

A local resident posted a photo to social media on Monday (May 23), saying they had found a bag with money inside.

While police could not provide an exact amount — citing property privacy — there appears to be at least three $100 bills and one $50 note.

If the money belongs to you, you're encouraged to call Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550 and quote file-number 2022-12641.
