Lumberjack Days make a return to Elliot Lake

Lumberjack Days was held at Mississauga Provincial Park on Saturday and Sunday, bringing fun activities for both children and adults

After a two-year COVID hiatus, the popular annual Lumberjack Days returned on the weekend to enthusiastic crowds and competitors.

Held at Mississauga Provincial Park on Saturday and Sunday, visitors were greeted with warm, sunny weather for its official return.

The events were divided into competitions for adults and children. On Saturday, events for the kids included face painting, nail driving, a colouring contest, minnow race, wood toss, trapper challenge, photo booth, kids axe throw and disc toss. For adults, the events included canoe races at campers beach, log burling and log toss.

Sunday’s event kicked off with a lumberjack pancake breakfast followed by an axe throw, two-person saw crosscut, underhand cut, Red Wings barbecue, V8 chainsaw with Garney’s Timber Sport, chainsaw obstacle course and a chainsaw event with modified saws.

Children participating in some of the events received gifts for their efforts.

The event is sponsored by the city of Elliot Lake.
