Poll Results: Richmond News readers explore different ways to cope with inflation

More than half the readers that replied ticked the "all of the above" box

A recent poll shows that Richmond News readers are coming up with a number of ways to deal with inflation.

A recent poll shows that Richmond News readers are exploring different ways to deal with the skyrocketing living expenses. 

The cost of living in Canada continues to rise with the latest figures showing the inflation rate hit 8.1 per cent in June 2022 on a year-over-year basis, according to Statistics Canada. 

Over 51 per cent of the News readers said they rely on a number of ways to save money, including trying to use the car less, shopping around for grocery deals, missing out on vacation and selling something major. 

Richmond News polled 384 Richmond News readers and asked the question: How are you coping with the spiralling cost of living in the Lower Mainland?

The poll ran from 7/12/2022 to 7/23/2022. Of the 384 votes, we can determine that 90 are from within the community. The full results are as follows:

1: Using the car less 6.67 % local, 6.25 % total

Results are based on an online study of adult Richmond News readers that are located in Richmond. The margin of error - which measures sample variability - is +/- 5%, 19 times out of 20.
