Volunteers at Mossom Creek Hatchery and Education Centre are hard at work on environmental programs in a forested area on the outskirts of the city.

There’s nothing like watching nature in action to cool down and re-focus (especially in this heatwave).

And spending a few minutes with a recent Facebook post by Mossom Creek Hatchery and Education Centre might help you do just that.

The Port Moody-based organization posted a video of all the wildlife that's recently visited the property, including a sleek black bear taking a dip in the pond, a coyote sniffing for prey and a bobcat taking an evening stroll.

The black and white videos taken from night cameras show the animals who frequent the area.

As well, there are photos of the hard work being done to test the water of the important creek by local volunteers.

According to Ruth Foster, who posted the images, the hatchery is a great place to cool down when temperatures soar.

“As you would expect it was delightfully cool down on the hatchery level of the building with that cement floor and water running through the building,” Foster noted.

The hatchery, run by the Burrard Inlet Marine Enhancement Society,’ is committed to providing environmental and stewardship activities in the Burrard Inlet area, according to the website.

It provides salmon, watershed and marine education programs for all ages through outdoor experiential school programs, community group activities, post-secondary training and other workshops.
