A Squamish resident was charged by the British Columbia Conservation Officer Service on Saturday for burning prohibited material.
"There is better and lawful way[s] to dispose of a couch than sending toxic smoke in the air," the service said in a tweet on Monday.
The province has a list of things that cannot be burned as they release dangerous toxins into the air:
*Construction waste
*Domestic waste
*Fuel and lubricant containers
*Furniture and appliances
*Hazardous waste
*Paint and varnish
*Plastics
*Treated or painted wood products
