A Squamish man has been charged after RCMP searched his home and allegedly found drugs, drug paraphernalia, weapons and cash.

Ghyslain Noel is in custody following his appearance in court on Aug. 11. He has been charged with one count of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance.

“Any time we can take drugs out of the hands of suspected drug traffickers and keep them off the streets in our community, means a safer more secure community for our kids to live and thrive in,” RCMP Sgt. Jeff Shore said in a news release.

On Aug. 10 just after noon, Squamish RCMP were called to a home in the 38000-block of Third Avenue to arrest the 44-year-old man and his 43-year-old girlfriend, for an unrelated event, officers say.

RCMP say that while police were inside the residence, they observed what appeared to be drugs and drug paraphernalia in plain view.

Officers returned to the residence to execute a Controlled Drugs and Substance Act search warrant.

As a result of the search, RCMP allegedly seized suspected cannabis, opioids, methamphetamine, cocaine and Gamma-Hydroxybutyrate (GHB) along with paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking and use, Canadian currency and weapons.

Noel is next scheduled to appear on Aug. 15. His girlfriend has not been charged.
