Squamish RCMP are confirming Lorraine Prebushewski was the woman found dead on Monday.
“Thoughts are with the family and friends of Ms. Prebushewski,” reads a tweet sent out by officers. “The investigation is now in the hands of the BC Coroners Service.”
Previously, officers noted the dead person located in Lions Bay matched the description of 59-year-old Prebushewski.
However, they didn’t go so far as to release official identification.
At the time, BC Coroners Service said it wouldn’t be releasing the name of the person.
Prebushewski went missing on Sunday, sparking a widely-publicized search effort that came to a close on Monday, when a body was found in the area she was believed to have gone missing.
