Two-year sentence for theft

A 39-year-old man was convicted of several offences, including a break-and-enter after officers allegedly found stolen property on him.

Joshua Lundstrom, a Squamish resident, was sentenced to two years in jail after appearing in North Vancouver court on Sept. 17.

Squamish RCMP say officers received a report of a suspicious male in the backyard of a property on Ross Road on Sept. 11 at 2:45 p.m.

Police say the witness described a man who matched with what a second witness saw at another property on Ross Road.

Squamish RCMP ound the man sometime later after a brief foot pursuit.

The man was arrested and police allege that he had stolen property on him from a break-and-enter that had occurred that day at a business in Brackendale.

Garage B&E on Government Road

Two mountain bikes, an electric drill and an electric screwdriver were stolen from a garage on Sept. 10.

The break-in happened on the 39000-block of Government Road.

Police say suspects broke into a truck in the driveway and used the garage door opener to open the garage.

The bikes are described as a 2017 black and green Giant Reign with Quarq ShockWiz attached and the second a 2015 black and blue Transition Scout 2.

Missing hikers found

Following a broad search for two missing women, it was found they had hiked out of Lions Bay safely on Sept. 12 after staying in a cave overnight.

Much earlier that day, around midnight, RCMP were informed the two women didn’t return home after hiking in the area.

An extensive search of the area by family members and Lions Bay SAR was conducted.

Officers say the women hadn’t planned on hiking overnight.

Two thefts on Reid Road

A 2015 orange Norco bike went missing from the trunk of a vehicle parked on Reid Road on Sept. 10 at 8 a.m.

Police say a witness reported seeing a male riding an orange Norco at around 5:45 a.m.

Later that week, someone reported that a Milwaukee tool bag full of tools and a circular saw went missing from a garage on Reid Road the same day the bike was taken.
