Heavy rain is expected to continue all day today (Monday) in the Howe Sound area, including Squamish.
A total of 60 to 80 millimetres of rain will fall by Tuesday morning, according to Environment Canada. In some areas near the Coast Mountains, downpours will between 90 and 120 millimetres by Tuesday morning.
Environment Canada warns that heavy rain can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.
If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance. Slow down, watch for tail light and be prepared to stop. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.
