Life is back to the new COVID-19-era normal at Shannon Falls.
On Dec. 30, a spokesperson from Shannon Falls Retirement Residence confirmed that a staff member had tested positive for COVID-19 and was isolating at home.
At the time, to prevent further spread of the virus, residents' movements were limited and outside visitors were asked to avoid visits.
On Jan. 19, Ian West, vice president of operations for Park Place Seniors Living confirmed to The Chief that only that one person has tested positive to date. The individual has since recovered.
The isolation was lifted on Jan. 4 and social visits have been restored, he said.
He added that staff have "strict infection, prevention and control protocols, as well as personal, protect equipment to help maintain their health. We have also been successful in educating our residents and visitors on how to mitigate the risk of catching and spreading the virus. Every one of us must take personal responsibility to keep ourselves healthy and not to put other people at risk."
The organization is awaiting news about the arrival of vaccines for both residents and staff, which West said he expected to hear within days.
