Squamish RCMP is asking for the public's help regarding an assault that occurred on Monday, outside the Dollar Tree on Winnipeg Street.

At about 3 p.m. on Oct. 15, police were called to a complaint of a fight happening between a man and a woman outside the store, according to a news release.

Details of how or why the fight started are still unclear. 

What is known is that the woman was seriously injured in the altercation.

She was taken first to Squamish Hospital and then transferred to a hospital in Vancouver.

The Sea to Sky General Investigation Section has taken over the case and are asking any witnesses or those with knowledge of the incident to contact the primary investigator, Const. Andrew Robinson at 604-892-6132.
