Tim Hortons location is on the table

But not a done deal

Don’t count your double doubles before they’re poured or your donuts before they’re dunked but backers for a proposed Tim Hortons franchise in Lillooet are taking serious exploratory steps toward setting up shop.

Gurtek Shoker, one of the proponents of the franchise, was reluctant to say much about the proposal, stressing it’s far from being a done deal

“Right now, we’re in negotiations with Tim Hortons... They’ve given us the okay to put the feelers out; they haven’t given us the okay to say ‘you know what? Definitely we’re going in there,’ ” Shoker said last Thursday.

Those feelers include a help wanted ad in this week’s BRLN, advertising for all positions including management.

“Yes, we are looking into it. It’s critical to us opening there. If we don’t get our pool of employees there, then there’s no point of opening something up there,” Shoker said of the initial step.

“We’ve been out there a number of times already, me and my business partner, we’ve been out there I think four times just to get a feel, and we think maybe the town is probably ready.”
