As crews continue to battle the wildfire between Horseshoe Bay and Lions Bay, at least the small wildfire in Squamish appears out.

At one point on Saturday, the fire was estimated to be 100 square metres (or .01 hectares).

Squamish Fire Chief Bill Stoner said in an email Monday that the Powerhouse Springs Road wildfire, which was started Saturday morning, "was contained and essentially extinguished on Saturday evening."

"Crews attended yesterday to ensure that there were no hot spots and are attending again today as a precautionary measure," Stoner added.

Though a cause had not been confirmed, Stoner said it is suspected people were to blame.

As of Monday, June 24, there are currently 30 active fires in B.C. Three were sparked in the last two days, according to the BC Wildfire Service.
