On Saturday (Nov. 24), the Women's Auxiliary to the Squamish General Hospital holds its annual Christmas Bazaar in the Squamish United Church on Fourth Avenue from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The ladies have been busy baking, sewing and knitting and craft making including handmade footstools. Stay for coffee and doughnuts and, raffle tickets will be available until the draw at 12:30 p.m.

St. Joseph's Catholic Church at 2449 The Boulevard is hosting its annual Christmas Bazaar also on Saturday (Nov. 24) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Along with a nice selection of home baking, sewing, knitting and crafts will be a cake walk and raffles offering some great prizes. Plan on staying with friends and family to enjoy a delicious lunch.

Between Shifts Theatre never disappoints with its selection if top-rated plays and the next offering, Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure will not disappoint either. The first performance is tonight (Thursday, Nov. 22) at 7:30 p.m. in the Eagle Eye Theatre and tonight is two-for-one tickets. The play continues on Friday and Saturday (Nov. 23 and 24) and next week on Nov. 29, 30 and Dec. 1. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for seniors and students, available at the door. The Squamish Arts Council Social will be held at the arts council building on Cleveland Avenue on Wednesday (Nov. 28) at 7 p.m. Join members for refreshments, presentations and a chance to meet the artists. The district is helping by having a new venting system put in the older building to ensure air will be fresher there now.

Do plan on attending the Squamish Culture and Heritage Festival at Quest University Friday and Saturday (Nov. 23 and 24). The event is co-sponsored by the Squamish Historical Society and will include workshops, films, art displays and more. On Friday, events are ongoing from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Friday night the keynote speaker will be Rudy Reimer. The Bald Eagles are here and the Eagle Watch Program needs you! A volunteer training session is planned on Sunday (Nov. 25) from 9 a.m. to noon at the Squamish Adventure Centre followed by an optional on-site orientation from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Eagle Run Dike. Come out and help connect people to nature, have some fun, meet people from all over the world, and help Eagle Watch take on an active stewardship role. Every Saturday and Sunday from the end of November to early February, volunteers will be on hand at the Eagle Run viewing dike from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. No experience needed and families are welcome. Congratulations to former resident Sgt. Bill Rattray who was honoured last week as the officer of the year in the Vancouver Police Department. Bill and his brothers and sister grew up here and his proud parents Chuck and Gwen Rattray reside here.

The Evening Book Club at the Squamish Public Library will meet at the library on Thursday (Nov. 29) from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. to discuss the book The Dressmaker by Kate Alcott.

There are still a few tickets available for the Christmas Banquet at the Seniors Centre on Friday (Dec. 7). Please check with the centre or call (604) 848-6896. The theme luncheon at the centre this month on Thursday (Nov. 29) will be fall comfort food. Tickets must be purchased in advance, otherwise the regular menu options will be available.

The Sea to Sky Singers Christmas offering this year is entitled "Everything Old is New Again" and performances are planned at St. John's Anglican Church on Saturday (Dec. 1) at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday (Dec. 2) at 2 p.m. Tickets at $12 for adults and $10 for seniors are available at Portico Gallery, Concrete Blonde and at the door.

The next Winter Market at the West Coast Railway Heritage Park will be held on Sunday (Nov. 25) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Raffle winners at St. John's Anglican Church bazaar on Nov. 17 were Ruth Fenton (quilt), Elanor Bocock (Christmas cookies) and Peg Tinney (gift certificate to Devlon Salon).
