Letter: It is time to declare, Squamish candidates

It is time to throw your hat in the ring!

Where are the other candidates?

With less than 60 days to go until the fall election, it is time for incumbent councillors, school trustees and any others interested in public office to declare their candidacy.

The earlier a candidate let’s her/his/their intention known, the greater their exposure and better their chances of winning. So far, we have one candidate for the mayoral seat, two councillors declaring that they will run again, one other running for council and one for school trustee. (At the time of publication)

Surely there are others considering service to our community so let’s hear from them.

The two local newspapers are doing a great job publishing stories and interviews of the declared candidates. I am an administrator of the Squamish Election 2022 Facebook group, and I try to keep readers informed of all election information, whether it originates with the newspapers, from the District of Squamish, or from Elections BC or any candidate press releases. This year’s election will be very interesting, and voters are anxiously looking forward to hearing the platforms of all candidates.

It is time to throw your hat in the ring!
