LETTER: Down, but not dumpy

Last week I was quoted [In “ Vote on downtown land deal postponed ,” Sept. 27] as calling the senior citizen’s residence at 38209 Third Ave. as a “dump.

Last week I was quoted [In “Vote on downtown land deal postponed,” Sept. 27] as calling the senior citizen’s residence at 38209 Third Ave. as a “dump.” For that, I want to apologize to all the staff and residents and anyone who is involved with the Manor.

The expression should have been a “downer,” as in a discouraging situation that one would feel when seeing a vermin control vehicle at your door. From management to maintenance the people work very hard to make our home not only liveable, but comfortable. They are very successful in their tasks. Our home, the Manor is old and tired and it reflects its residents.

Most of us are old and tired. All of us would appreciate the new residence currently under consideration, very much.
