LETTER: For a bowling alley

In Squamish, there aren’t a ton of activities anymore for people to do, especially teenagers. So I think that it would be a great idea to bring back things like a bowling alley, movie theatre, or even the Squamish Valley Music Festival.

By having a bowling alley in Squamish, it would give an opportunity for teenagers to get a job somewhere that is not a fast-food place or grocery store. Because there are very few places that hire at 13 or 14 years old, but the places that do are always very busy and not hiring because already have so many people who work there. It would also get a lot more business because I think that our generation has definitely changed more and people want a bowling alley now in Squamish, because we don’t have anything like that.

As lots of people know, Squamish is an outdoors community with lots of great ways to get physical activity, such as biking, skiing and swimming. But not everybody loves to do those things. And even in the winter when there isn’t much to do if you enjoy biking but you can’t use the trails because there is too much ice or snow.

By having a bowling alley, it would give an opportunity for people to do something fun in Squamish.
I’ve heard that some people say that the bowling alley closed for a reason and won’t get enough business and will just have to close again and that there will be no point. But now in Squamish, there is a much bigger majority of teenagers, and youth. And lots of those teenagers are getting into drinking and drug use at a young age. I think that this can definitely connect to my project in how teenagers don’t have anything to do anymore. They are getting into more drinking and throwing parties on a Friday night because there aren’t anything for them to do.
