On Saturday, March 1, 2014, a senseless tragedy occurred in Squamish. And on March 3, Clifton Scott Mawer died — a man who lived here, loved here, worked here, spent his life here. Who was in his prime, still working hard and enjoying life, planning his future still. A man who went to his local pub on a Saturday night like many of us do, only he never came home.
He could have been our husband, our father, our grandfather. He left behind a family stuck in devastation and loss, who only ask of Squamish some accountability in bringing some closure to that terrible night. Cliff loved Squamish, and his family wants to assume that Squamish appreciated him too. If we could find it in our hearts for a moment to feel some measure of his family’s pain and realize that this could have happened to any one of us, and if someone has some knowledge of what happened at the Cliffside Pub on March 1, they can contact the RCMP or Crime Stoppers with their information. Please try and remember that he was one of our own.
Many, many people whose lives he touched are affected by this tragedy.
The Mawer family and friends, co-workers at Special FX, Waterfront employees
