Shame on you, Mr. Kent

EDITOR,

Thank goodness in Squamish we have the Squamish CAN group doing so many things for us and pushing our community towards a lower environmental footprint, and thank goodness here in B.C. we have a provincial government that has been incredibly progressive in bringing in a carbon tax. If only we had a federal government that would show an ounce of leadership in terms of shifting our economy over to one focused on renewable energy and sustainability instead of one stuck in the ways of old. It's so ridiculous that the federal government's new regulations for coal-fired electricity generation - which will mandate that new plants emit less pollution - will not apply to a new project planned in Alberta by Maxim Coal. Shame on Environment Minister Peter Kent for making Canada an even worse global polluter. Sadly, the days of Canadian flags on the backpacks of Americans around the world are coming to an end.
