North Shore residents still concerned about COVID-19: poll

Just 10 per cent say they are living their life as normal

The masks are coming off. The mandates are coming to an end. Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says it's time for B.C. to transition into a new, less restrictive phase in our response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

But how are we actually feeling about th risk of the virus these days?

North Shore News polled 1,773 readers and asked the question: How concerned are you about COVID-19 now?

The poll ran from Feb. 23 to March 11. Of the 1,773 votes, we can determine that 578 are from within the community. The full results are as follows:

Very concerned. I still avoid almost all social settings and unnecessary risks. 20.59% local, 17.60% total    
Mildly concerned. I take some extra steps to avoid catching or spreading the virus. 37.54% local, 30.74% total    
Not very concerned. I follow the rules but otherwise live my life as normal. 30.97% local, 24.53% total    
Not concerned at all. I am living my life as if there is no COVID-19 now. 10.90% local, 27.13% total

Results are based on an online study of adult North Shore News readers who are located in North Vancouver and West Vancouver. The margin of error – which measures sample variability – is +/- 2.32%, 19 times out of 20.
