Squamish's Norm Ryan dropped off a neat find to The Chief. In cleaning out his brother's Vancouver storage locker — his brother currently lives in the U.S. — Ryan found A 1969 edition of The Vancouver Sun. The 88-page paper from Wednesday, Nov. 19, 1969, includes stories on that day's Apollo 12 moonwalk, by the U.S.'s Pete Conrad and Alan Bean. The images that go with the stories are drawings because Bean had accidentally pointed the TV camera at the sun, destroying it. With modern eyes, the number of stories put on each page is staggering — eight stories grace the cover page, for example. The advertisements are endearing, as well. A 1970 Austin 1300 America is on sale for $2,095, down from $2,395. The Chief found one of the now classic cars for sale online for $15,850 this week.
