Local seniors showed off their Christmas spirit by donating dozens of stuffed toys to first responders. Squamish Fire Rescue arrived at the lounge in the Manor on Friday to pick up the gifts. The idea behind the stuffed toys is that if emergency crews encounter children in distress, they can provide something to help soothe them. While firefighters were the ones picking up the furry friends, the animals will be distributed to first responders throughout town. But the seniors weren’t the only ones intent on showing some Christmas spirit. The firefighters happened to be hauling a big box and a sack, which, it turned out, was filled with jigsaw puzzles for the residents — the perfect gift, as piecing puzzles together is a favourite pastime for the folks living in the residence.
