Rick Price, Ian Kent, Rebecca Barley and Rachael Lythe are expected to ask for your vote on Oct. 20

With the municipal election season closing in, four board members of the Sea to Sky School District have said they intend to run for re-election.

Chair Rick Price, vice-chair Ian Kent, and trustees Rebecca Barley and Rachael Lythe said on Aug. 29 they will be vying for your vote on Oct. 20.

Both Price and Kent represent Squamish and fielded the most votes in 2014, according to Civic Info BC.

Voters cast just over 3,000 ballots in favour of Kent, while more than 2,700 were given to Price.

Alice (Harry) Guss was the next most popular, at roughly 1,900, but didn’t make it in because Squamish only has two seats on the board.

Barley won the spot for Electoral Area C and Lythe took the second Whistler seat.

Patricia Westerholm, the Pemberton representative, was not present at the latest board meeting and has not said anything about her election plans in past meetings.

In total, seven positions are up for grabs, with four people having said they are interested in running as of Aug. 29.

The news comes months after long-time trustees Chris Vernon-Jarvis of Whistler, and Laura Godfrey, who represents Electoral Area D, said they would not be running again.
