Taxi2Airport just released a list of the 25 most “Christmassy” countries in the world, and Canada took the top spot.

The list measures countries across the globe based on Christmas travel recognition, the chance of snow, Christian population, Christmas search interest and the popularity of Christmas music.

The taxi booking platform notes, however, that each country has its own festive traditions. For example, Japan doesn’t celebrate Christmas as a religious holiday. Instead, the island nation uses the time to spread happiness and eat fried chicken. In fact, a number of families will actually place orders to KFC in advance.

With that in mind, the report depicts Christmas as “the most magical time of year.” Further, it notes that for many, the season is synonymous with snow, carols, lights and sprawling markets filled with merry cheer.

Most Christmassy Country

According to Taxi2Airport, Canada listens to an impressive amount of Christmas music, and its most “distinctive yuletide anthem” is Sarah McLachlan’s “Away in a Manager.” Canada also has the sixth highest chance of snow on the big day.

Following Canada, the top 10 “Christmassy Countries” list goes in the following order:

  • Norway
  • Iceland
  • Liechtenstein
  • Finland
  • Lithuania
  • Sweden
  • USA
  • UK
  • Ireland

Be sure to check out the majestic holiday displays across Metro Vancouver this year. For example, the Aurora Winter Festival opened Nov. 22 in Vancouver and offers a magical winter experience in the heart of the city.
