A routine coffee run paid off with a $75,000 lotto win for a B.C. man.

Nicholas Sayers was following his usual routine of picking up a coffee and a few Scratch & Win tickets at the Co-op Gas Bar on 10 Avenue in Salmon Arm – but he returned home with more than just a cup of java.

When Sayers got home and scratched his Deluxe Crossword ticket, he realized he'd cashed in.

“I was on my last letter, and I had three words,” said Sayers. “I started to uncover more words and realized I had won. I checked it on the BCLC Lotto! app and thought ‘wow.’ It was all pretty exciting.”

Sayers plans to put his prize money towards a new car and some golf clubs.
