Here's why you might hear something like gun shots in Kitsilano this weekend

The Seaforth Armory will be the site of a job fair on April 27 which will feature an assault demonstration with blank ammunition.

A job fair in Kitsilano this weekend may cause the ears of passersby to perk up.

The Canadian Army Reserve is hosting a job fair and open house at the Seaforth Armoury at 1650 Burrard St. on April 27. The historic building has been home to Vancouver-based military units for nearly 90 years.

"The upcoming event will be hosted by four Vancouver Units from Vancouver in the Army Reserve of the Canadian Armed Forces," states a press release from the Department of Defence. "These units include the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada, 39 Signal Regiment, 6 Intelligence Company and 12Fd Ambulance."

There will be three assault scenarios played out as part of the event.

"Nearby residents can expect to hear occasional noise from the firing of blank ammunition," reads the press release.

The scenarios will occur at:

  • 10:45 a.m.
  • 1 p.m.
  • 3 p.m.

 Aside from the assault demonstrations, the public is invited to meet soldiers. There will also be weapon and equipment displays set up.

"Visitors may also tour the historic Seaforth Armoury, including the nationally recognized museum of the Regiment," states the release.

The open house and job fair runs from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
