Truck actually 'drives thru' at Newmarket car wash

Police investigating after damage done to 24-hour car wash at Alexander Road when a truck went through the back wall

York Regional Police is investigating after a truck crashed through the wall of a Newmarket car wash yesterday.

Residents reported the scene at the 24-hour car wash at 4 Alexander Rd. on April 18,  when a truck utilizing one of the car wash bays ran through the back of the building, smashing through the wall and creating a big hole.

Police confirmed there was a call for a motor vehicle collision, but additional details were not yet available.

Photographs of the crash scene made the rounds on local social media.

“Sorry to the business owners, I’m sure that is extremely upsetting,” one commenter said on Facebook.

The car wash is automatic, with no attendant on site. The business did not respond to a request for comment before publication time.

Workers were on the scene the same day fixing the hole. By the next day, the hole was patched up, with work ongoing to repair the damage.
