GoFundMe launched for man fatally shot inside Abbotsford home

"Any help is greatly appreciated," says the GoFundMe page. Money raised will go toward the funeral.
COLAVIS
Homicide investigators have identified the man shot and killed in an Abbotsford home the evening of March 21 as Chad Colivas, 41.

An online fundraiser has been created for a man who was shot and killed inside an Abbotsford house on Monday evening.

Chad Colivas, 41, has been identified by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team as the man killed. Police say he was found inside a Latimer Street home suffering a gunshot wound.

IHIT spokesperson Detective Corp. Sukhi Dhesi says his death is not connected to any gang involvement.

“We are in the infancy stages of our investigation; however, the early indications suggest that Mr. Colivas’ death is not associated to the Lower Mainland gang conflict,” Dhesi said Tuesday. “These are complex files.”

On Tuesday evening, a GoFundMe fundraiser was created to raise money for his funeral.

"Any help is greatly appreciated. Much love,” says George Fokas, the individual who created the campaign.

Condolences for Colivas are being posted online with many people sharing memories of him.

Police have not made any arrests and do not have a suspect. They also did not comment on the motive.

It’s not clear when investigators will release more information but Dhesi says investigators are working tirelessly to complete priority tasks.

Anyone with information is asked to contact IHIT. Police want to speak with friends and associates of Colivas to build a timeline of his activity leading up to his death.
