Human-caused wildfire burning west of Harrison Hot Springs

The Skarleth Lake fire is estimated at 1.3 hectares in size and is being held as of Thursday afternoon.

A wildfire burning west of Harrison Hot Springs is believed to be human-caused. 

The Skarleth Lake wildfire is burning 12 kilometres down on Mount Woodside Forest Service Road and was first discovered on May 29 at 11:27 a.m. 

BC Wildfire Service information assistant Jennifer Lohmeyer said the fire is 1.3 hectares in size and is being held.

“We don't expect it to grow beyond the predetermined perimeter,” said Lohmeyer. “Right now, we have two initial attack crews and a resource officer actioning the fire."
