IHIT makes public appeal in Surrey homicide investigation

Jaskaran Minhas was gunned down on March 3

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is asking for public assistance to further its investigation into the shooting death of Jaskaran Minhas.

On March 3, 2025, at approximately 5:25 p.m., Surrey Police Service (SPS) frontline officers responded to calls of a shooting near the 7900 block 120 Street, Surrey.

SPS officers attended the area and located the driver of a vehicle suffering life-threatening injuries. Despite life-saving measures, 29-year-old Jaskaran Singh Minhas, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

“IHIT’s Integrated Gang Homicide Team (IGHT) was assigned to investigate and has made significant progress since the outset,” said IHIT media relations officer Cpl. Sukhi Dhesi “Following the evidence trail, investigators have identified several persons of interest and believe multiple individuals were involved in the planning and execution of this targeted shooting.

Suspect car located in Delta

A red Dodge Charger was used by the suspects in the shooting and subsequently set on fire a short distance away in Delta.

Investigators believe the suspects were also using the Dodge Charger in the weeks leading up to the shooting, including for planning purposes.

The IGHT is now releasing images of the Dodge Charger, with distinct markings, in hopes of advancing the investigation.

“Throughout the course of the investigation, IGHT investigators have obtained evidence that the Dodge Charger was in an area near the U.S. border in Abbotsford as well as the Fleetwood area of Surrey, leading up to the shooting,” said Dhesi. “This vehicle stands out and we urge anyone that has any information on the vehicle and/or the occupants to come forward and speak to IHIT. This is a tragic event for Mr. Mihas’ family, and they are asking anyone with information about this homicide to come forward and assist in getting answers about the loss of their son.”
