Maple Ridge's Ruth Inglis won $150,000 on a BCLC scratch-and-win ticket.

Ruth Inglis was happy when she thought she'd won $150, but then she realized her scratch-and-win ticket was worth a bit more.

Well, not a bit. A lot. A lot more.

"I looked at it closer and thought it looked different and kept saying, ‘Oh my gosh,’" the Maple Ridge woman says in a press release from the BC Lottery Corp. "I sent it to my family members and said, ‘Do you see what I see?’"

It turns out the ticket, which was a gift from her mother, was a big winner. As in, $150,000.

"My son thought I was pranking everyone but once the dust settled everyone realized it was a real win,” says Inglis.

That real win means Inglis can retire soon. At the same time, she plans on taking her family to Mexico.

"This is about the family… the things we can do together,” she says.
