Emergency responders were quick to attend a logging truck accident on Road 40 on Aug. 22. Lillooet RCMP say no charges will be laid in connection with the accident.

Lillooet RCMP say no charges will be laid following a “thorough investigation” of a logging truck accident on a curving section Road 40 near T&T Road on Aug. 22.

Police told the News they looked at all the evidence and a mechanical inspection revealed no problems. They acknowledged that while speed may have been a factor, they could not prove that through the investigation.

The investigation was conducted by the RCMP and Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement (CVSE).

However, police added that CVSE will be working with local trucking companies to implement an education program for drivers traveling through the Lillooet area. It will cover topics such as road safety and Motor Vehicle Act regulations.

No one was injured in the Aug. 22 crash, but some of the spilled logs were thrown down the hillside and smashed into the side of an unoccupied house below Road 40.
