WestJet will offer a direct flight from Vancouver to Penticton. Visitors love to swim in Skaha and Okanagan lakes and bike on the Kettle Valley Trail.

Looking for a picturesque holiday that's only a short flight away?

Located less than an hour's flight away in the breathtaking Okanagan Valley, Penticton is one of only two cities in the world located between two lakes (the other is actually a Swiss town called Interlaken).

Skaha Lake and Okanagan Lake each offer several fuel-free activities to enjoy as well as panoramic vistas of the stunning mountain ranges. Beachbound tourists who visit in the summer can enjoy a refreshing dip in one of the freshwater lakes on a hot day.

WestJet will now offer a direct flight from Vancouver (YVR) to Penticton (YYF) providing locals with another option to enjoy a short, car-free way to get to the popular destination.

The new service is slated to commence starting on Feb. 17, 2023, with six flights weekly on every day except Saturday.

Through the airline's capacity purchase agreement with Pacific Coastal Airline, all flights will be operated by WestJet Link, using a fleet of WestJet-branded 34-seat Saab 340 aircraft.

The new route is the 11th destination within the WestJet "Link network," which the airline says connects more travellers in smaller communities to its global network.

"The addition of new intra-provincial routes is critical as we invest in our presence in the West and look to strengthen our offerings to ensure British Columbians have more access to convenient and affordable air travel," said Jared Mikoch-Gerke, WestJet Director of Government Relations and Regulatory Affairs.

"This new route marks the initial steps in our renewed commitment to B.C., and will open up connections and opportunities for local businesses and residents as they recover from the difficult past few years."

Currently, Pacific Coastal Airlines, Air Canada, and Cascadia Air provide nonstop service between Penticton Airport and Vancouver International Airport. WestJet is now the only airline serving both Calgary and Vancouver direct from Penticton, however.
