Have you ever been in so much shock you had to call your kids to come get you?

Richmond resident Huei Chern Wei had to do just that when he found out he won $2.5 million from the July 1 Lotto 6/49 draw.

Wei scanned his lottery ticket at the Metrotown Lotto signature store when he realized he had won.

His ticket matched all six numbers along with a ticket that was purchased in Saskatchewan to split the $5 million Classic Jackpot.

“I scanned the ticket on a self-scanner and was so excited I had to phone my kids to come pick me up,” said Wei.

“I could not go home by myself!”

He added that his kids were also so shocked they didn't believe him at first.

When asked what Wei would do with the $2.5 million, he said Japan has been a dream trip of his.

“I would like to go on a trip to Japan to celebrate! I will also be able to help my kids and protect them.”

The winning ticket was purchased at the BCLC Lotto kiosk inside Aberdeen Centre in Richmond.

So far in 2023, B.C. lottery players have redeemed more than $109 million in winnings from Lotto 6/49.
