Video: Suspects damage vehicles with axe, swords, bats in B.C. attack

Investigators are hoping someone recognizes them.

Using axes, swords and baseball bats, a group of people damaged vehicles at an Abbotsford house last week.

The crime, which police believe was targeted, was captured on surveillance video.

On April 29 at 12:39 a.m., Abbotsford Police Department responded to a report of mischief at a residence on Broadway Street.

When officers arrived they discovered extensive property damage to four vehicles and parts of the house.

Video footage released by police on May 5 shows a large group of armed suspects arriving at the property in three vehicles.

"The suspects are seen leaving their vehicles before using various weapons, including axes, swords, and baseball bats, to smash out windows and destroy other property,” says Const. Scott McClure.

At least a dozen people can be seen in the video violently smashing vehicles parked in the driveway.

"This incident is very concerning to the AbbyPD, due to the violent nature of the crime and the targeting of an occupied residence,” says McClure.

The group all pile back in the vehicles and drive off.

Police do not say that this was random or explain how the individuals in the video know the property owner.

Anyone with information about the suspects and their vehicles is asked to call Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225.
