Police are hoping the public can help in finding a 52-year-old missing Vancouver man.

Andriy (Andre) Fendrikov didn't show up for work Monday, Sept. 13, which is unusual for him. He was last seen Friday, Sept. 10.

Fendrikov is described as an avid hiker. Police initially believed he was possibly in the Squamish or Pemberton area, but now can confirm he was last seen in Manning Park.

“We have confirmed Mr. Fendrikov spoke to another hiker Monday afternoon on a trail near Snass Mountain and we believe he may still be in that area,” says Sgt. Steve Addison, VPD.

"Mr. Fendrikov’s disappearance is out of character and police are concerned for his safety," states the Vancouver Police Department.

“We are growing increasingly worried about Mr. Fendrikov, and we’re concerned he may be lost or injured and in need of rescue,” adds Sergeant Addison. “We are working with the RCMP and search and rescue to send people to the area, and we’re asking anyone venturing into the backcountry to keep an eye out for him.”

He's described as a Caucasian male standing 5'5" with brown hair and blue eyes. Police don't know what he may have been wearing when he disappeared.

His car is described as a grey 2006 Toyota Matrix with the licence plate 154CMP.

Anyone who has information about Fendrikov's disappearance is asked to call the VPD at 1-605-717-3321.
