Police have seized a 2017 grey Dodge pickup truck with Alberta licence plates.

A woman has been seriously injured after getting out of a moving vehicle over the weekend.

Abbotsford police responded to Clearbrook Road just before 11 a.m. on Sunday after receiving calls about a woman lying in the roadway. When officers arrived, they found the 50-year-old with serious life-threatening injuries.

Police say her injuries happened from exiting the vehicle, while it was in motion. She was taken to hospital by air ambulance, states a press release.

A 39-year-old man was driving the truck and remained at the scene. Police say the pair are known to each other.

Const. Paul Walker states the major crime unit has taken over the investigation and it's in the preliminary stages.

“Investigators are releasing a photo of the truck and asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the truck’s movements before the incident,” says Walker.

Police have determined the vehicle was travelling northbound on Clearbrook Road at the time. The vehicle is described as a 2017 grey Dodge pickup truck with Alberta licence plates.

Witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage is asked to contact the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225.

Police say this was an isolated incident and there's no risk to the public.

The woman remains in hospital.
