Climate rally held in Squamish Wednesday (PHOTOS & VIDEO)

A rally to keep climate issues front and centre in the federal election campaign — hosted by local residents as part of a series of rallies spearheaded by 350.org — was held in Squamish on Wednesday, Sept. 8.

About 200 people marched down Cleveland Avenue to Junction Park.

Similar rallies were held in approximately 60 other communities across Canada. 

"Together, we will remind every single candidate, party, and media outlet across the country that real action on the climate emergency means stopping fossil fuel expansion and delivering a just transition that supports workers and communities," reads a news release from 350.org, a climate advocacy organization.

In Squamish, West Vancouver—Sunshine Coast—Sea to Sky Country candidates from the Liberals, NDP and Greens turned up to speak, among others, including journalist, author, filmmaker and activist Naomi Klein, who is also the NDP candidate Avi Lewis' partner.
