Thirteen-year-old Chloe Hudson was awarded third-place overall winner at the Youth Talent Search BC 2018 finals on Nov. 25.

Performing “Warrior” to a sold-out crowd, the Squamish student competed against 25 other finalists from all over the Lower Mainland, ranging in age from seven to 19 years old.

The finalists earned their spots through preliminary rounds, which were YouTube video submissions, and then by three semi-final rounds held in Port Moody last month.

As third place winner, Hudson earned a spot at next year’s finals.

This is the first year a performer from Squamish has taken home a prize at the competition.

“Not only does Chloe have powerful vocals but her stage presence and passion are outstanding. I have no doubt she’s going to go far,” said Youth Talent Search BC producer Danielle St.Pierre in a press release.

Youth Talent Search BC is a talent competition designed to give youth exposure and experience in a theatre environment. This year’s judges included YTV star and director Milo Shandel (Mr.Young and The Stanley Dynamic), arts reporter and reviewer for the Georgia Straight Vince Kanasoot and professional singer/dancer/actress Madeleine Suddaby (original Canadian cast of Kinky Boots).
