Thanksgiving Semi-Potluck Dinner

The Brackendale Art Gallery’s Friends & Neighbours gathering takes place on Oct. 7.

There will be a service in the chapel at 5 p.m. and dinner will be at 6 p.m.

Bring a starter, side dish, salad or dessert.

(Homemade always preferred!)

The Mixer art show

It’s one part art show, one part dance party and one part social experiment.

The opening night extravaganza will be featuring 14 local artists at the Brackendale Art Gallery on Oct. 6 at 7 p.m.

Strengthening families

A free, 10-week program for families with children aged six to 11. Includes free dinner, free childcare for those under six and a free family gift each week.

Families learn how to understand their children better, learn positive parenting practices, improve communication and other valuable skills.

Thursday evenings from Oct. 4 to Dec. 6. 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Sea to Sky Community Services.

Take a hike!

 

Squamish has some of the most prolific hiking and walking groups that you can find in any community.

 

With three clubs dedicated to trekking through the outdoors, you’ll find plenty to do if getting around on two feet is your preferred method of transportation.

 

- Over the Hill Hikers meet this week on Oct. 9 for a walk at Crooked Falls. The group will meet at Don Ross at 8 a.m. Details at 604-815-8561.

 

- The Tantalus Walking Group will meet this week on Oct. 9 at Rusty Bucket. Meet at Church of Latter Day Saints for walk on Rusty Bucket trail.

 

- They’ll also be walking on Oct. 11 at Cheekye Fan. Meet at corner of Ross and Government Roads for walk around the fan. Contact Joyce for details on 604-898-5594. All walks start at 10 a.m.

 

- The Friday Morning Walking Group will have a stroll at the Pavilion on Oct. 5 at 10 a.m. More info at 604-815-0152.
