My heart's home

I first came to Squamish from Australia in July 2001 on a climbing trip, and never left. I fell in love with the forests and mountains, the easy access to trails right outside our front door, and the numerous recreational activities available here.

I first came to Squamish from Australia in July 2001 on a climbing trip, and never left. I fell in love with the forests and mountains, the easy access to trails right outside our front door, and the numerous recreational activities available here. I climb, bike, hike, ski, paddle, and kite. The lifestyle is what attracted me to this community, and I brought my work as a visual science communication consultant with me, telecommuting to a university on the east coast of the USA, and working with scientists and managers around the world — all from my home office.

I could live anywhere, yet I choose to live in Squamish. Every morning, I wake up, and I see the Chief and I feel so incredibly lucky that I am able to live HERE. This is my heart’s home. I love to watch the changing moods and seasons of this town, and enjoy the blue sky days as much as the rain when the mist rises off the river, creating clouds that drift up the valleys of the Chief. I can sit and watch those clouds for hours.

I love this community. I love the people that are attracted to this community. This is where I want to be.
